PANEL HOSTED AT NOON WITH DISASTER EXPERTS ON-HAND
COMPTON BECOMES THE FIRST CITY IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY TO DEVELOP A DISASTER AWARENESS STRATEGY
Who: Mayor and City Council, Johnson Controls, DRC Emergency Services, Compton Fire Department, Compton Sheriff’s Department and the Community Emergency Management Team.
What: City agencies, local officials and residents will receive information and emergency training designed to prepare them in the case of a major disaster in the city. Representatives from the School District, Salvation Army, Fire Department, Red Cross, Public Health, and other city and local government agencies will be on hand distributing information on emergency procedures and safety. Also, the City will giveaway and display emergency action vests featuring the federal governments recommended 3-day supply of food and equipment if an emergency occurs.
There will be a multi-million dollar Disaster Mobil Unit and Command Center (used in Katrina) and several emergency vehicles on site to tour.
When: Tuesday, March 27, 2007, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Vendors Display)
Noon – 1:00 p.m. (Live Presentation, Panel and Giveaway)

We invite everyone to come out and participate in the groundbreaking citywide event. This is one more example of the citizens and local government working together to “Birth a New Compton”.
