CONTRACTOR’S INFORMATION

Residential Rehabilitation Programs

The Community Redevelopment Agency has designed programs to help homeowners correct code and incipient code violations at their main residence in order to create a viable and affordable community.

 

 

PROGRAMS AVAILABLE

Fit-It Repair Grant

The Fix-It Repair Grant is an ongoing program designed to assist seniors and disabled with minor repairs. This program provides assistance up to $7,000.00

 

Emergency Assistance Program

The Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) is an ongoing program designed to assist homeowners with extreme emergencies due to plumbing, electrical, roofing, heating, etc. This program provides homeowners with assistance up to $10,000.00

 

Deferred Equity Loan (DEL)

The DEL is an ongoing program designed to bring the interior and exterior of the property up to code. Different loan amounts are set at the onset of each fiscal year (from July to June). This program can assist with all types of repairs. This program provides assistance up to $25,000.00


PAYMENT GUIDELINES

If the program limit is $5,000.00 or less, the contractor will be paid after all work is complete. Where the program limit exceeds $5,000.00, an account will be established and contractors will be paid in partial payments with 10% retention held for forty five days (45) after date Note of Completion is filed with the LA County Recorders Office.

PROGRAMMATIC REQUIREMENTS

Contractor must hold a general contracting license (B1) issued by the State of California Contractor’s Licensing Board to participate in the Residential Rehabilitation Program. Electrical, roofing and plumbing contractors also accepted.

Contractor must carry at least $1,000,000 liability insurance.

 

Contractor must have Worker’s Compensation or a waiver statement filed with the State Board.

 

Contractor must have the ability to obtain performance and payment bonds.

 

Contractor must obtain a city of Compton Business License prior to beginning work in the City of Compton.

 

Contract may not have any citations against the state license or be on HUD’s suspended or debarred list.
