The Planning and Economic Development Department promotes the orderly development and growth of Compton’s commercial districts and residential neighborhoods through the expeditious delivery of technical expertise and financial resources. The Planning and Economic Development Department was formed in the fall of 2004, combining the former departments of Planning and Economic Resources Development.
Currently the PED Department is comprised of three divisions:

 

Planning and Zoning (310) 605-5532

Reviews development proposals for consistency with City plans, ordinances and design guidelines and facilitates the creation of a community vision and land use policies for the future growth of Compton.

 

Business Services (310) 605-6258

Supports ongoing business investment in the community through business development workshops, low-interest loans and grants. Administers business assistance programs including commercial façade improvement and Enterprise Zone.

Grants Management (310) 605-5580

Responsible for the acquisition and management of local, State and Federal grant funds to support community nonprofit organizations, City beautification, health and safety initiatives.
