The City of Compton will employ approximately 70 At- Risk Youths from the City to assist in a one-day Compton Creek Soft Bottom Restoration Project. The City is seeking 40 high school students (10 from each high school and the alternative school and 30 students from Compton College.) Youth between the ages of 15 – 24 will be responsible for trash collection, debris removal, and de-weeding of invasive plants and nonnative plants from the Soft Bottom. Youth will work with U.S. Army Corps of Engineering staff to help clean up the Soft Bottom. The pay is $100.00 for 5 hours of work and Youth must be available between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Supplies will be provided. The event will be postponed if it rains on April 22, 2010.
