Martin Luther King Jr. Transit Center Expansion

Please be advised. During the reconstruction of the Martin Luther King Jr. Transit Center and its surrounding areas, the City of Compton will temporarily close the Eastside of Willowbrook Avenue from Compton Blvd. to Elm St. from August 31, 2009 through March 2010. Please follow all detour and directional signage posted during this time.

In June 2009, the City of Compton began reconstruction of the Martin Luther King Transit Center and the altering adjacent streets. The contractor performing the work is Mepco Services, Inc. The duration of construction is approximately a year.

In conjunction with Metro, the bus routes have been adjusted to maintain services at the current levels.

Temporary closure of the Eastside of Willowbrook Avenue from Compton Boulevard to Elm Street will occur from August 31, 2009 to March 2010. A temporary walkway will be provided for pedestrian access to public facilities. Vehicular traffic will not be allowed to access this area.

We will minimize inconveniences to the residents and local businesses at all times as well as maintain access for emergency vehicles and local businesses. Your cooperation in observing all traffic controls, parking restrictions, and flagmen will be sincerely appreciated and will assist us in expediting construction.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Robert Oddo of Mepco Services, Inc at (562) 841-5165.
