Traffic Signal Upgrade & Management Citywide

This project is to assess the City’s traffic signals including the poles and software that controls the signals timing and lights. This assessment will provide a guide for the rehabilitation and replacement of approximately one-third of the City‘s over one hundred traffic signals. This upgrade will also provide the capacity to connect with the overall county wide traffic management plan. Project is under Design.

Safe Route to Schools

This work is to provide improved pedestrian safety for the following schools: Longfellow Elementary (Reeve St at Central Ave.), Washington Elementary (Rosecrans Ave. at Kemp Ave), Mayo Elementary (Chester Ave. at Rosecrans Ave), Walton Middle School (Greenleaf Boulevard and Greenleaf Drive) and Roosevelt Middle (Alondra Blvd. at Burris Ave). Construction Contract has been awarded.

Greenleaf Corridor Improvements

The project consists of recreational and transportation enhancing facilities such as pedestrian and equestrian paths on Greenleaf Blvd.

Street reconstruction on Northwood Avenue. Project is under design.

Citywide Street Lighting

Work includes modifying street lighting systems and installing new luminaires on exisiting poles, new electroliers, service equipment, conduit, conductors, and pull boxes Citywide. Project is under design.

Crane Street Reconstruction

Reconstruction of sidewalk and roadways on Crane Street from Elm Street to Rosecrans Ave. Crane Street will be changed into a North Bound one-way street.

The alley will be paved and drainage issues will be addressed. Project is under design.

ARRA Pavement Rehabilitation

This project consists of overlay grinding and sidewalk repair on Greenleaf Blvd. from Alameda St. to Central Ave.. And Santa Fe ave from Alondra Blvd. to North City limits. Construction will begin March 2010.

ARRA Preventive Street Maintenance

The work performed will consists in general of slurry seal, crack seal, stripping and signage of arterials at various locations. Construction will begin March 2010

FY Residential Sidewalk Rehabilitation

The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate medians and sidewalks at various locations throughout the City. The project includes installation of handicap access ramps and flexible concrete to preserve trees and reduce breaks in concrete.

Sewer System Catastrophic Failure Prevention Program

The City’s sewer system will be inspected and analyzed to identify portions which are subject to catastrophic failure.  These portions of the system will then be repaired or replaced, as appropriate.

FY-10 Bridge Rehabilitation

The two bridges over the Compton Creek on Wilmington Ave and Compton Blvd will be rebuilt to prevent deterioration.
