Free Sandbags Available to Compton Residents

COMPTON– As the first major storm of 2016 hits the southland, the City of Compton has announced that sandbags are available.

Residents of Compton may pick up free sandbags at the following location:

  • Compton Fire Department Station No. 1, 201 S. Acacia Ave.

Sand may be acquired for free at the following location:

  • Public Works Yard, 458 S. Alameda Ave.

Sandbag bag pickup is available until 6 p.m. and sand is available until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday sandbag pickup is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and sand is available from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents must show proof of residency within the city limits to receive the free sandbags. Identification accepted includes valid driver’s licenses, California ID’s or utility bills. There is a 5-bag limit and residents must bring their own shovel to fill their bags.
