COMPTON – On Sat. Apr. 9, Compton Mayor Aja Brown’s will join rapper YG’s 4HundredWaze Foundation in Compton to launch #HashtagLunchBag Compton, an initiative of the Foundation to help feed the city’s homeless. Dozens of volunteers will join Mayor Brown and other guests in preparing bagged lunches that will be disseminated the next day to residents, youth and homeless hotspots throughout the city of Compton.
The lunches prepared on Saturday will go to support Sunday’s Save Our Children March and Rally in honor of one-year-old Autumn Johnson who lost her life in February while asleep in her crib when a gunman fired bullets into her home hitting her in the face. Each lunch bag prepared will include a nourishing meal as well as a note of encouragement to people in need.
The event will take place at theDouglas F. Dollarhide Community Center located at 301 N. Tamarind Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers who want to get involved can sign up online by visiting https://goo.gl/2lCUVa.
