During the early morning hours of September 29th, a vacant business located at the corner of Burris Ave and Rosecrans Bl. caught fire. The blaze required Fire response from both the Compton Fire Department as well as mutual aid assistance from the Downey Fire Department. The blaze partially involved the 5 unit apartment complex next to the business and the residents were evacuated without any reported injuries. The fire is under investigation by Compton Fire Arson Investigations. It appears that the location was being used for shelter by one or more homeless individuals. The displaced residents from the apartment complex were assisted by family members and the Red Cross.
