The “Twenty-Eight by ’28 Initiative”
At the September Metro Board meeting, Chair Garcetti announced the “Twenty-Eight by ’28 Initiative” to highlight projects for completion by the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. At his direction, staff has developed a draft candidate list of projects that includes Measure R, Measure M and other projects already slated for completion by 2028, as well as other “aspirational” project schedules that propose to be accelerated by 2028 (projects that have current delivery dates later than 2028). Projects in the Gateway Cities region that are on this list include the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor and the I-710 South Early Action Projects.
