City of Compton 2020/2021 Sewer Assessment Exemption

Each year an assessment ($54.00) for the maintenance of the City of Compton Sewer system is placed on your Property Tax Bill by Los Angeles County Tax Collector's Office.

The City of Compton has established a program that provides an exemption of the $54.00 dollars for residents that occupy the home as their primary residence and either (i) are 65 years of age or older, or (ii) provide proof of permanent disability recognized by the State of California.

To qualify for the City of Compton 2020/2021 Sewer Assessment Exemption, please submit the application along with the following supporting documentation: One of the following:

--Proof of Age (copy of valid California Driver's License, California Identification, Passport, or Birth certificate), or
--Proof of Disability if not 65 years of age (award letter documenting permanent disability from a State or authorized Agency), and
--Proof of Ownership and Primary Residence (a copy 2019-2020 Tax Bill showing "owner of record" with applicant name and property address)

(Below are some examples to why an application will be denied)
oSecondary residences are ineligible for the sewer exemption
oTrust owned properties must provide the Trust Agreement showing applicant as Trustor
oMissing proof of permanent disability from a State or authorized agency will void the application
oMissing verifiable date of birth proof will void the application
oMissing a copy of the current property tax bill 2019-2020
oName and address must match on all relevant documents
oCommercial Properties (i.e. Apartments, businesses, rental property) are ineligible for the exemption

The deadline for residents to submit their application and support documents for the 2020/2021 Sewer Assessment Exemption is July 1, 2020.
