COMPTON PAR 3 GOLF COURSE, 6400 East Compton Boulevard
The Compton Par 3 Golf Course has a fully stocked Pro Shop, a snack bar that serves food, beer and other beverages, and off-street parking. A Golf Pro also offers instruction. The hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. Phone number: (562) 633-6721.

POLICY FOR OPERATION OF COMPTON PAR 3 GOLF COURSE

ITEM 1. RATES

A. Single Green Fees


Weekdays……………………………$ 5.00
Weekends……………………………$ 6.00

B. Youth Rate – Classes (per participant)


This charge is limited to youth classes 18 years and younger, supervised by recognized high school instructor, department instructor, or other qualified and recognized instructors. Students pay regular green fees.

 

C. Women’s Club – Monday Morning


The Women’s Club was instrumental in organizing the Southern California Par 3 Association for Women in 1960, and it extends from Palm Springs to Ventura County. One morning a week, on Mondays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., shall be designated Ladies Day; and all women shall pay a regular $3.00 green fees with their Senior Citizen Card. Without the card, fees are $5.00.

 

D. Senior Citizens’ Yearly Pass


All Senior Citizens, 60 years of age or older, shall be permitted to purchase an annual pass for $10.00. The pass shall permit them to play, on weekdays only, for the reduced green fees of $3.00.

E. Kids’ Day


Saturdays are designated as Kids’ Day between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Children between the ages of 6 – 18 years shall be permitted to play for the regular green fees.

 

ITEM 2. RENTAL OF EQUIPMENT

A. Clubs, each (per day) will be charged at the rate of $ .50.

 

ITEM 3. HOURS OF OPERATION

A. Public Play – shall be weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to dusk, and weekends and holidays from 7:00 a.m. to dusk, or earlier as determined by the season. The schedule for summer months shall be 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. weekdays and 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. weekends.

B. Tournament Play – shall be permitted as scheduled and as weather permits. All such tournaments shall be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the contemplated playing date. Weekday tournaments may be scheduled with the golf professional. The Director of Parks and Recreation must approve tournaments on holidays or Saturdays and Sundays.

C. Golf Classes – shall be permitted, as scheduled. Class hours may be altered as necessitated by demand.

 

ITEM 4. SCHEDULED STARTING TIME

A. Reservations must be made two (2) days prior to weekend usage. Starting times will be allocated on arrival at the course on weekdays.

 

ITEM 5. USE OF PERSONAL EQUIPMENT

A. Use of personal equipment is permitted. Each player must have a minimum of three (3) clubs and a “putter.”

 

ITEM 6. AGES OF PARTICIPANTS (minimum)

A. Eleven (11) years shall be the minimum age of participants allowed to play on the course, if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. They may play on any weekday (Monday through Friday) up to the hour of 3:30 p.m. Children must not, in any sense of the word, be “beginners” in the game of golf. This shall be construed to mean the children are not using the course for a practice or instruction purpose.

B. Eleven (11) years shall be the minimum age of participants allowed to play on the course unaccompanied by an adult.

 

ITEM 7. PLAYERS CONDUCT

A. All players and visitors to the course do so at their own risk.

B. All players and visitors to the course shall conduct themselves in a manner befitting a good sportsman.

C. Failure of players or visitors to observe course rules and regulations established by the Parks and Recreation Department constitutes just cause for the Director, or her authorized deputy (Golf Professional or starter), to have such persons removed from the premises.

 

ITEM 8. GOLF COURSE INSTRUCTOR

A. A recognized golf instructor may conduct private and group lessons as scheduled, provided an agreement is in writing and has approval of the City Manager.

B. Instruction fees shall be comparable to the fees charged by the Golf Professional at nearby courses.

 

ITEM 9. RAIN CHECK

A. In the event a patron has paid a greens fee and is unable to commence play due to a sudden change of weather or inclement weather conditions, player and/or players must arrange with the starter for rain checks. At this time, the starter on duty may provide the patron with a rain check before the patron leaves the course.

 

ITEM 10. LOST AND FOUND

A. All lost and found articles shall be turned in to the Starter on duty in the starter house, who shall in turn list these items, together with date and place where they were found, and store them neatly in the storeroom.

 

ITEM 11. RECEIPTS

A. All players must obtain a receipt at the starter house. The player must retain receipts until he finishes playing. Any player on the course without a receipt can be removed from the course.

 

ITEM 12. PUBLIC RECREATION FACILITY

A. The Golf Course is one of the public recreation facilities owned by the City of Compton. It is under the jurisdiction of the Parks and Recreation Department, and its conduct and operation are primarily for service to and benefit of the public.
