The following information was provided by Metro.

I-110 Directional Freeway Closures– Electrical Work

Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105. Major construction for the first phase of the project, Segment 1 between Sepulveda Bl and Central Av, started in early 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in year 2028.

Work crews are anticipated to perform directional full freeway closures on the I-110 over five nights, from Monday, February 2, through Friday, February 6, between Imperial Hwy to 120th St. During each night advance lane reductions will take place prior to the directional full closure, with simultaneous closures of inside lanes in the opposite direction of the side of the freeway closure. These freeway closures are required to facilitate the installation of electrical conduit beneath the eastbound I-105 overhead bridge structure to support the tolling system for the new ExpressLanes.

LANE REDUCTIONS
  • February 2-3, Monday to Tuesday, starting at 10 PM lane closures will begin in preparation for the full freeway closure.
 LANE REDUCTIONS
  • February 4-6, Wednesday to Friday, starting at 10 PM lane closures will begin in preparation for the full freeway closure.
DIRECTIONAL FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE
  • February 2-3, Monday to Tuesday, from 11:59 PM to 5:00 AM southbound closure is implemented.
 DIRECTIONAL FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE
  • February 4-6, Wednesday to Friday, from 11:59 PM to 4:00 AM northbound closure is implemented.
DETOUR: Southbound I-110
  • Travel south on I-110
  • Exit to eastbound I-105
  • Exit at Central Ave
  • Enter the on-ramp to westbound I-105
  • Continue on westbound I-105 to the southbound I-110
 DETOUR: Northbound I-110
  • Travel north on I-110
  • Exit to eastbound I-105
  • Exit at Central Av
  • Continue north on Central Av
  • Travel west on Imperial Hwy
  • Travel north on Olive St
  • Enter on-ramp to northbound I-110
What to Expect:
  • To safely perform this work, corresponding ramps will be closed to perform these work activities.
  • For each direction of full freeway closures there will be simultaneous closures of inside lanes in the opposite direction of the freeway.
  • Advance signage will be in place to notify motorists of detours, as well as freeway and lane closures.
  • During these closures, detour routes will be implemented for the following Metro bus lines: 460, 550 & 910 (Rte. 950)
