Metro has begun work on major safety and mobility improvements for the I-105. The project will convert the existing carpool lane into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction to help ease traffic and improve travel times. Construction for Segment 1 between Sepulveda Blvd and Central Ave started in early 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in 2028.
Upcoming work will require directional full freeway closures on the I-105 between Vermont Ave and South Central Ave on the nights of January 30 and January 31. Advance lane reductions will take place prior to each closure. Crews will remove overhead signage as part of the ExpressLanes improvements.
Lane reductions:
• Friday, January 30 beginning at 10:30 p.m.
• Saturday, January 31 beginning at 10:00 p.m.
Full freeway closures:
• Saturday, January 31 from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
• Sunday, February 1 from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
