Federal law requires Council districts to be as nearly equal in population as may be, taking into consideration topography, geography, cohesiveness, contiguity, integrity and compactness of territory, and community of interests of the districts. In order to comply with Federal law, the City of Compton is embarking on a process of redefining its Council District boundaries.
