Mission of the Office of Emergency Management
To ensure the City of Compton is a disaster resilient community through the promotion and provision of emergency preparedness information, awareness, education, and training to all residents, businesses, employees, and community stakeholders.
About Compton Office of Emergency Management
The City of Compton Office of Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating emergency mitigation, planning, response, and recovery efforts for all disasters or other major emergencies affecting the City of Compton. This includes the following:
- Developing and implementing community outreach activities and educational programs
- Management and oversight of the City’s Emergency Operations Center
- The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer program
- The City’s emergency notification system
- Providing ongoing training for City staff
- Regularly updating and maintaining the City’s Emergency Operations Plan and Hazard Mitigation Plan
Compton OEM also works closely with numerous municipalities, county, state, and federal agencies, the private sector, and non-governmental, community, and faith based organizations to ensure that residents, businesses, City employees, and community stakeholders are prepared as possible in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.
