Republic Services provides exclusive waste and recycling collection services for residential and commercial, and industrial accounts for the City of Compton. We offer one-stop shopping for all the City's waste removal needs. Although we specialize in solid waste and recycling collection, our services go far beyond emptying the trash bins.
Residential Service
Each residence receives one set of carts, consisting of trash, recycling and yard waste.
Container Sizes
- Trash (brown) 96 gallon
- Recycling (grey) 64 gallon
- Yard Waste (green) 64 gallon
Additional trash, recycling, and green waste containers are available for a fee. Please contact our customer service department at (310) 761-1420 to sign up for the additional service. If your container is damaged or missing a lid please call Republic Service at (800) 299-4898 to schedule a repair or replacement of your cart.
Additional Residential Services
Bulky Items
- All single and 3 or less multi-family residential customer receive four (4) bulky pickup per year for free (up to six items per quarter).
- Bulky items include: furniture (chairs, sofas, mattresses, and rugs); appliances (refrigerator, ranges, washers, dryers, water heaters, dishwashers, plumbing and small household appliances); and electronic waste.
- Please contact Republic Services 48 hours in advance of your regularly scheduled pickup at (800) 299-4898 to schedule service.
Commercial Recycling
Recycling at Commercial and Multifamily locations continues to be at no charge if the service level is 1-96gal recycle cart picked up 1x per week, and 1-64gal organics cart picked up 1x per week.
However, due to the state mandate SB1383, if a customer has MORE than the service level listed (above) then there is a charge based on the container size and service frequency. There may also be ancillary fees to consider, such as scout, locking lids or contamination.
Additional Commercial Services
Bulky item pickup is available at an additional charge to multi-family customers (consisting of four units or more). Please contact Republic Services at (800) 299-4898 and speak with a waste representative.

Solid Waste Collection Holidays
Republic Services will be delayed by one day beginning the day of the holiday through Saturday. On the following holidays;
- New Year’s Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Refuse and recycling collection will return to the regular schedule on the following week. For questions regarding this schedule, please call Republic Services at (800) 299-4898.
