Project Objective

The  Center  Avenue  Green  Street  Improvement  Project  is  an infrastructure project proposed by 
the City of Compton. The primary object of the project is to provide flood protection, improve 
water quality, and enhance recreational opportunities in the City that currently lack adequate 
drainage and green space.
The project will extend and expand the existing storm drain system with the construction of catch 
basins, lateral lines, and gravity main lines along Center Avenue. Additionally, several structural 
Low Impact Development (LID) Best Management Practices (BMPs) will be installed, yielding 
multi-benefits that will improve water quality, water resilience, and watershed protection to the 
adjacent Compton Creek, and downstream to the Los Angeles River.
