Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and related nondiscrimination statutes and regulations require that no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, orbe subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. The City of Compton also prohibits discrimination based on sex, age, disability, religion, medical condition, marital status, or sexual orientation.

Any person who believes that he or she has been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability may file a Title VI complaint with the City of Compton The complaint must be filed within 180 days of the date of the alleged discrimination.
