Our Mission as a department is to enhance the quality of life for all residents of Compton. Providing access to clean and safe recreational facilities that support diverse youth, adult and senior recreational programs. Our aim is to deliver a professional, courteous and responsiveness service to an ever changing and growing community.

About Us
The Recreation Department provides programs and facilities to support citizens' diverse interests in parks, recreation, and culture. The department's core services are dispersed throughout the City to enable access to all residents of the community from toddlers to senior citizens. The department’s core services are Administration and Planning, Recreation Services for Youth, Adults, and Seniors, and Medians.
The City of Compton Recreation Department operates and maintains a total of sixteen (16) parks (118 acres). Facilities include six community centers, seven neighborhood parks, two walking parks, two Aquatic Center swimming pools, three regulation size gymnasiums, a skate park, Jackie Robinson Baseball Stadium and the Douglas F. Dollarhide.
The Recreation Department offers a full range of recreation and leisure time programming and activities. Each community center normally operates from Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm. Dollarhide: Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm.
