Deidre M. Duhart was appointed to the position of District 1 Councilmember April 12, 2022. As a proud Compton resident for 35 years, a former employee and active community leader, Councilwoman Duhart is committed to serving residents and making local government work better for everyone. Her vision for the city is to see Compton thriving again, by creating an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere that offers a robust shopping center/mall, livable wages, job opportunities to its residents, affordable housing, and a variety of recreation and leisure activities with continued economic growth. She intends to utilize a fresh, professional approach to encourage diversified thoughts and solutions, in order to create an inclusive and cohesive city council, ensuring Compton’s leadership operates with transparency, accountability and integrity.

Mrs. Duhart has dedicated her career to serving others in both customer and public service. Prior to her appointment to the Compton City Council, Mrs. Duhart served as the Director of Customer Service for NHIC, INC. acquiring over 30 years of administrative leadership experience. Under her leadership, Mrs. Duhart successfully refined and implemented the roll out of numerous projects, excelling in compliance investigations, case management, and contractual obligations.

In 2010 Mrs. Duhart transitioned into the field of public service, supporting various departments within city hall. Over the course of twelve years, Mrs. Duhart has served on the personnel board, assisted multiple city councilmembers as a liaison, provided admin support to city management, and even volunteered in the parks and recreation department. Mrs. Duhart has also assisted in the coordination and planning of several local and city- wide events, in collaboration with the city’s special event planning committee.

As District 1 Councilperson, it is Mrs. Duhart’s most sincere goal to fulfill this governmental role, by making a positive difference on behalf of Compton residents. She intends to move the city forward by working together to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and resides in the City of Compton.

Councilwoman Duhart is married to Hartsell Duhart, who has been a resident of Compton since 1958. She has three children and five granddaughters.
